The Induction Heating In-place Removing technology(IHIR)
In order to introduce the Induction Heating In-place Removing technology, a test construction was performed on the test field located in Narashino City, Chiba Prefecture. The test construction attracted the attention of more than 60 visitors and was successfully completed.

During recent years, due to the increase of traffic volume
of heavy vehicles and also the increased size of vehicles, fatigue damage
was reported in various parts of bridges. This was especially prevalent regarding
steel plate deck bridges. Various fatigue damages such as crack fissures
developing in the deck plate become obvious. Effective actions are required
in accordance with the knowledge about which parts are damaged, when damage
started to appear and conditions of the construction sites.
In order to prolong the longevity of existing bridges and also to supply healthy
services for transportation, numerous maintenance and repair works have been
conducted. However, the noise generatd from the construction when the asphalt
pavement is removed from the steel plate deck becomes an issue.
Due to these circumstances, the Induction Heating In-place Removeing Technology
(IHIR) has been developed jointly together with Green ARM, Takenaka Corporation
and Takenaka Road. (This system is currently awaiting patent pendeing approval.)
